Solar Park
The scheme for development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects was rolled out in 12.12.2014. The capacity of the solar park scheme was enhanced from 20,000 MW to 40,000 MW on 21.3.2017 to set up at least 50 solar parks. The time line of the scheme is extended till 2023 – 24.
- The capacity of solar parks is generally 500 MW and above, however smaller solar parks ( up to 20 MW ) are considered in states or UTs where shortage of non-agricultural land.
- Approximately 4 to 5 acre per MW of land is required for setting up solar parks.
CFA for Setting Up Solar Parks
- The ministry provides central financial assistance up to Rs. 25 lakh per solar park for preparation of detailed project report.
- The CFA of up to Rs 20 lakh per MW ( Rs 12 Lakh / MW for development of internal infrastructure of solar park and Rs 8 Lakh / MW for development of external power evacuation infrastructure of solar park ) or 30% of project cost including grid connectivity cost whichever is lower is provided under the scheme.
- The central grants approved under the scheme is Rs. 8100 crores.
Nodal Agency for Solar Park
- The solar energy corporation of India (SECI) & Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) implement the scheme under the direction from MNRE.
Selection of Solar Power Park Developers
- The solar parks are developed in collaboration with the state government and their agencies, CPSUs and private entrepreneurs.
- The solar park implementing agency is known as solar power park developer (SPPD) and may be selected in any of the eight modes of the solar park scheme.
