Theme of Global Wind Day 2023 & India's Wind Energy Achievement

Theme of Global Wind Day 2023

In this post, the theme of global wind day 2023 and India’s goal to achieve energy from 50% non-fossil fuel along with India’s rank in the wind energy in the world.

Celebration of Global Wind Day

The global wind day is celebrated every year on 15th June since 2018. The ministry of new and renewable energy, government of India celebrates 15th June as Global Wind day.

  • The theme of Global Wind day is “PAWAN URJA: Powering the future of India”. The celebration of this day regarding progress in India, Offshore wind development, strengthening of wind energy manufacturing ecosystem and Green Finance for wind energy.
  • India’s committed to achieve the target of 500 GW renewable energy capacities by the year 2030.
  • Three states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu achieve their goal in the financial year 2022 – 23.
  • Rajasthan was felicitated for achievement highest wind capacity, Gujarat for achieving highest wind capacity with addition through open access and Tamil Nadu for initiating repowering of wind turbines.
  • The event also witnessed the launch of Wind Atlas at 150 meter above ground level, prepared by National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE). The onshore wind potential of the country is now estimated at 1,164 GW at 150 meter above ground level.
  • The celebration was organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Wind Energy, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association, Indian Wind Power Association, and Wind Independent Power Producers Association.
