Hydro Electric Project

2000 MW Subansiri hydroelectric project located in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam are being executed by NHPC limited. The construction of the dam is at top level of Elevation level (EL means height with respect to mean seal level) 210 M has been completed on 29th June, 2023.

• The NHPC has informed that more than 90% of the total work has already been completed. 
• The construction of power house, dam, all major components and hydromechanical works is at fast progress. 
• The work of radial gates will be completed after the monsoon and electricity generation is expected at the end of year 2023 – 24. 
• After completion of hydro electric project, it will generate approx. 7,500 million kWh of power annually. 
• The NHPC started Subansiri lower hydroelectric project in January 2005 after got forest clearance in 12th October, 2004. 
• The project work was stopped due to agitation and protest by local stakeholders from December 2011 to October 2019.
