India’s Hydrogen Energy Roadmap
- The nation hydrogen energy roadmap was laid in the year 2006 to provide blueprint for the long-term public and private efforts required for hydrogen energy development in the country.
- The roadmap identifies technology gaps and challenges for introduction of hydrogen in large scale in different phase manner.
- Major initiatives for hydrogen energy is for transportation and power generation

India’s Hydrogen Mission: Mission Innovation
- The Mission Innovation (MI) was announced on 30th November, 2015 involving 24 countries and European union.
- The main objective of Mission Innovation is to dramatically accelerate global clean energy innovation – double government’s clean energy R & D investment over 5 years.
- There are 8 innovation challenges under mission innovation, which are aimed towards encouraging greater private sector investment in transformative clean energy technology.
- India is participating in IC 8 focusing on renewable and clean hydrogen.
India’s
Hydrogen Mission: Mission Innovation Activities
The different
activities will be organized under four streams
- Making hydrogen
- Sharing hydrogen,
- Using hydrogen and Cross cutting issues
Hydrogen Valley Platform
- The DST (Department of Science & Technology) has launched “Hydrogen Valley Platform” which is developed to combine together several hydrogen applications in to integrated hydrogen ecosystem covering hydrogen production, storage, distribution and final use.
- The objective of this platform to bring industry and policy makers together to exchange their ideas for entire hydrogen value chain.
