India’s Renewable Purchase Obligation 2030

India’s  Renewable Purchase Obligation ( RPO ) and Energy Storage Obligation  ( ESO ) Trajectory from 2022 – 23 

  • Energy from hydro power projects is considered as renewable energy has been recognized world over on 8th march, 2019. 
  • The government of India had also recognized large hydro power projects including pumped storage projects having capacity of more than 25 MW is considered as a part of renewable energy. 
  • The large hydro power stations commissioned after 8th march, 2019 will be part of renewable purchase obligation ( RPO )  through separate obligation i.e hydro power purchase obligation ( HPO ). 
  • The renewable power trajectory beyond 2021 – 22 is as given below.
