There are two types of electrical charge
- Positive charge
- Negative charge
- The charge carried by proton is positive charge whereas the charge carried by the electron is negative charge.
- The magnitude of electrical charge on proton and electron is same.
- The body gets negative charge if it gains charge whereas the body gets positive charge if it loses electron.
- The opposite charge repel each other whereas the similar charge attract each other. The SI unit of charge is coulomb.
- An electron has negative charge of magnitude 1.6 × 10 – 19 C whereas the proton has positive charge of 1.6 × 10 – 19 C.
- When a glass rod rubbed with cotton cloth, the charge acquired by glass is positive charge.
