What do you mean by AC DRIVE?

Concept of AC Drive

• If the AC motor runs efficiently, it will save energy and reduce cost.
• The AC drive can vary frequency and voltage fed to the motor. It converts fixed voltage and fixed frequency into variable voltage, variable frequency power for the motor. 
• It means that the motor uses only the electricity that it needs and therefore Variable Voltage, Variable Frequency Three phase supply saves huge amount of energy.

How the constant voltage, constant frequency is converted into variable voltage, variable frequency supply?

• The fixed voltage, fixed frequency supply is converted into variable voltage, variable frequency supply by using rectifier – filter – inverter circuit.
