Direct on line starter

In this post, the working of direct on line starter is given. It is simplest type of AC starter as it required only one contactor to control the starting current. It is also cheapest starter of all types of AC motor starter.

Steps - working of direct on line starter

Push ON button. The main contactor coil gets supply through phase R – OFF push button – ON push button – main coil – phase Y. The auxiliary contact M1 becomes NC. Auxiliary contact becomes NC from NO. As soon as ON push button is released, the main contactor coil gets supply through phase R – OFF push button – ON push button – auxiliary contact M1 – phase Y. The main contactor remains ON during running condition of the motor.
